Frequently Asked Reiki Questions
The right thing would be not to think of anything, but we are human and our brains thinks, always! So, it is very difficult to master the mind emptiness, the best thing to do is to focus your mind on a single thought, for example healing. You can use mantras or repeated phrases (for example “may reiki heal my receiver”) into your mind to help you keep your personal thoughts away. If you have been attuned to Level 2 and you use symbols you can focus on drawing and feeling them. Try also to bring most of your focus on subtle sensation around your being during the session, you may receive signals and important messages which could not be possible to feel if we are distracted thinking about our life. You need to be in a kind of meditative state while offering yourself as a pure empty channel for the length of the session, for that time your decided to void yourself and dedicate it to the receiver.
Although Reiki is “hands-on”, unlike massage, it is administered through a softer touch rather than a deeper pressure. While the patient is seated or lying down and fully clothed, the practitioner’s hands are placed along with energy centres and pathways on the head, neck, chest, abdomen, legs, and feet (similar to those used by acupuncturists). As energy is transferred to the body, the patient may feel warmth, coolness, gentle tingling, or just deep relaxation.
The hands are placed gently and passively in different positions over the body, generally beginning at the head. Physiologically an hour of treatment is equivalent to 3 to 4 hours of sleep. This fact alone makes Reiki a very effective stress reliever.
A tradicional Usui Reiki session last around 1h and 30m, with each hand positions hold for about 3 minutes. Although. there are no real rules on how long a session should last, the greatest session lenght is the one dictated by the practitioner instinct and allowes Reiki to say when it's done. In this way a session can last hours.
My personal formats are: 45minutes, 1 hour, and 1 hour and 30. Although I can perform instinct sessions if you wish to try, contact me directly!
Everyone reacts differently to the energy healing. Some clients have experienced instant pain relief, but it has often taken a few days after the session for clients to feel it more noticeably. Some clients have found the relief felt to be more subtle and come after a series of sessions, especially in chronic conditions. Some clients have experienced instantaneous miracles occurring during a session. I often find that the more open and 'ready to heal' someone is, the faster the result.
The practitioner doesn’t actually address any specific imbalances. Giving Reiki is a passive action, we need to be an empty channel for Reiki energy to freely flow trough us to reach the receiver. Reiki is infinitely intelligent, more than any of us. Reiki knows exactly what the highest good for the receiver is and will always work towards that. A practitioner may think the need is where the pain is reported by the receiver, for example, but maybe the unbalance is somewhere else into our multi-layer beings. Reiki will always know where to go. The practitioner can base the session with a specific target, adding specific hands positions, maybe music, colour and words. This will create an extra layer to the perception of the receiver, which could mentally help them towards the specific target, though Reiki will serve the same benefits as if the practitioner is serving a standard session.
It is completely unconditional. It demands nothing of the giver or of the receiver. It propounds no creed or dogma. It requires no specific belief in the supreme being or in Reiki itself. Reiki heals on many levels such as the aura, physical body, emotions, mental and spiritual states, bringing them into balance and promoting health, happiness, prosperity and long life.
The word Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words REI and KI.
REI means "spiritual wisdom, "higher power" or "universal.
KI means the same as CHI in Chinese, Prana in Sanskrit and Mana in Hawaiian. KI is the "life force energy"
REIKI is "Universal life force energy"
Reiki is not religious. Reiki is totally nondenominational. You can practice any religion or non and still use and benefit from Reiki
Hand positions are extremely important to follow, especially for who is new into Reiki. It will give a sensation of a complete session to the receiver and it will train the giver on feeling changes in the energetic body to understand where possible unbalances are located. Although, with practice, you will soon learn that hand positions are dictated by your instinct and with time you may perform your sessions in a unique way.
